Paula Birtch

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) who works with children, youth, adults, and parents through an attachment-informed, trauma-informed, and holistic lens.

My work is grounded in the belief that every person’s story is unique, and that healing often begins when people feel safe, supported, and understood. I aim to create a warm, inclusive, and non-judgmental space where clients can explore their experiences, better understand themselves, and move toward meaningful change.

I offer both in-person and virtual support, and my goal is to help individuals and families build greater self-awareness, stronger relationships, practical tools, and a deeper sense of confidence as they navigate life’s challenges.

My Experience

Butterfly underline.

My work is shaped by my background in counselling psychology, kinesiology, trauma-informed care, and years of experience supporting children, youth, and families in both professional and volunteer settings.

I provide therapy through a trauma-informed, attachment-focused, and holistic lens. I believe that our brains and bodies are always working to keep us safe, and that what may appear as “symptoms” are often adaptive responses to stress, overwhelm, or unmet needs.

In my work with children and families, I believe behaviour is communication. When a child is struggling, I do not see them as “bad” or “defiant.” Instead, I approach behaviour with curiosity and compassion, working to understand what the child may be trying to express and what support may be needed.

I hold the same compassion for parents. Parenting can be deeply rewarding, but it can also feel overwhelming, especially when supporting a child through big emotions while navigating your own stress, exhaustion, life transitions, or past experiences. My goal is to create a space where both children and parents feel understood, supported, and not blamed.

Together, we can work to strengthen connection, increase understanding, build practical strategies, and support the whole family. My hope is that clients leave therapy with greater compassion for themselves, deeper understanding in their relationships, and more confidence in their ability to navigate challenges together.
